The Los Angeles Chargers went into one of the biggest games of their year on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs without their top two offensive performers. Both Ladd McConkey and JK Dobbins were forced to miss the game due to injury.
But coming out of that game, they lost another. Will Dissly has become Justin Herbert’s second-most-targeted receiver. Dissly has caught 43 passes on 55 targets for 413 yards. But Dissly left the hotly contested matchup with a shoulder injury he suffered on the final play before halftime — a 15-yard catch — and didn’t rejoin his teammates on the field to begin the second half. He caught both of his targets for 19 yards before the injury.
Chargers TE Dissly and WR Ladd McConkey’s Injury Status
When the Chargers’ final injury report was released on Friday afternoon Dissly was listed as OUT for their upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With TE Hayden Hurst already on the injured reserve, they were forced to rely on Stone Smartt and Tucker Fisk last weekend and that will likely be the case this week as well.
McConkey, who has been Herbert’s top target was listed as questionable to play. McConkey has been featured on the injury report every week going back to Week 7 after getting hurt against the Denver Broncos.
Further absence of Dissly, McConkey, and Dobbins (who is on the injured reserve) would be a significant blow to the offense. These three players have been key contributors, accounting for 53% of the team’s total offensive yards from scrimmage.
In a bit of good news for the offense, Justin Herbert was listed as a full participant after missing practice on Wednesday due to two leg injuries suffered in the Chiefs game. He was limited on Thursday.
