The Los Angeles Chargers went into their game with the Baltimore Ravens short-handed on defense, with linebacker Denzel Perryman and cornerback Cam Hart ruled out and edge rushers Bud Dupree and Khalil Mack questionable to play.
In response to rookie Hart’s injury, the Chargers elevated cornerback Eli Apple. The 29-year-old Apple was signed on October 15th, days after Asante Samuel Jr. was placed on the injured reserve.
Chargers CB Eli Apple Questionable To Return
Early in the first half of the Baltimore game, Apple left with a hamstring injury and was ruled questionable to return.
Apple was activated for the first time this season for their game against the Cleveland Browns. He played 43 percent of the team’s defensive snaps. He played in the next two games as well but with a very limited snap share.
Apple was drafted in the 1st round of the 2016 NFL draft by the New York Giants. He was traded to the New Orleans Saints in his third season. He signed with the Carolina Panthers for one season, then played with the Cincinnati Bengals for two seasons. Last year, he was signed by the Miami Dolphins after starting cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffered a knee injury.
