Negative News Regarding Joey Bosa Injury

The Los Angeles Chargers has quietly been one of the most injured teams in the league and one of its most injured players has been outside linebacker, Joey Bosa. Bosa has missed the last three games due to injury and has only played his normal snap share in Week 1.

And based on the latest report Bosa isn’t trending in the right direction fast enough to get back into action against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. The Athletic’s Daniel Popper reported that Bosa was not practicing and also not suited, but rather in a t-shirt and shorts working off to the side.

Bosa has only practiced in a full capacity once since Week 1 and that includes a bye week of rest. The last full day of practice was the Friday before the team’s meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bosa was initially counted in for that game but played a total of two snaps before leaving the game.

Initially this season, Bosa suffered a lower back strain, but has been sidelined with an inguinal hip bruise. Bosa also injured his hand about a month before the regular season.

Bosa is no stranger to the trainer’s room. Bosa missed the last seven games of 2023 with a sprained foot. In 2022, he missed 12 games due to a torn groin muscle.

While the defense has played well, the pass rush has been anemic without Bosa. The Chargers are ranked 21st in pass rush percentage, putting heat on QBs on just 25.7 percent of dropbacks. And arguably the Chargers defense has looked good because they have played some of the least explosive offenses in the league so far.

That isn’t the case with the Cardinals. Kyler Murray is piloting the 8th most explosive offense in the league. It will also be the Chargers’ first look at a truly mobile quarterback. Last week against the Denver Broncos, Bo Nix rushed for 61 yards on just six carries.
