Chargers Injury Update: ‘Questionable’ Starter Officially Active Vs. Broncos

Los Angeles Chargers announced inactive ahead of its Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos. And the most important takeaway was who wasn’t on the list, rather than who was.

Left tackle, Rashawn Slater ended his week of practice listed as questionable on the injury report. Slater missed the Kansas City Chiefs game due to an injury to his pectoral muscle in his chest that he suffered near the end of Week 3’s Pittsburgh Steelers game.

Many had hoped that the bye week would give the Chargers a chance to rest and heal from their massive amount of injuries, but that wasn’t the case. Their injury report included 14 starters, including Slater. The former first-round pick, practiced in a limited capacity all this week.

This isn’t a guarantee that he will play, but it leaves the door open to him getting back on the field.

Right tackle, Joe Alt, who also missed the Chiefs game because of an injury, was a full participant in the week’s practices. If Slater does miss the Broncos game, Alt may make the move to left tackle in the interim. In Week 4 Trey Pipkins filled in at right tackle and Jamaree Salyer played for Slater on the left side.

The Chargers also moved running back Gus Edwards and cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. to the injured reserve this week.

Here is the full list of Chargers inactive:

  • QB Easton Stick (emergency 3rd QB)
  • S Tony Jefferson
  • DB Ja’Sir Taylor
  • OL Jordan McFadden
  • WR Brenden Rice
  • EDGE Joey Bosa

Bosa was also ruled questionable ahead of the game. Taylor was ruled OUT. The Broncos ruled out wide receiver, Josh Reynolds, left tackle Alex Palczewski and center Luke Wattenberg.
