Los Angeles Chargers: Titans Make Big Change Ahead Of Week 10 Battle

The Tennessee Titans have announced that quarterback Will Levis will start Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Levis missed the previous three games due to a right shoulder injury but has now returned to full practice.

This move comes after backup quarterback Mason Rudolph filled in for Levis during his absence. With Levis back in the lineup, Rudolph will return to his role as the backup quarterback.

While the Titans offense wasn’t impressive when Levis was in the lineup, he looks to be the more accurate quarterback of the two. That said the Titans passing game has improved with Rudolph under center. And while Levis’s completion percentage is seven points better than Rudolph’s (66.4 versus 59.4), Levis had thrown seven interceptions in the four games he played this season. Rudolph has thrown just four in his four games. Each has thrown four touchdown passes.

It is evident from the moves the Titans made in the runup to the NFL trade deadline that they are not expecting a turnaround on offense, the change at quarterback is likely an audition for next season.

They now face the a dominant run defense that will force the game into Levis’s hands. Which, given his propensity to throw interceptions, is a risky proposition. The team has comeup with a pick nine times in eight games and are seventh in the league in that stat.

On the Chargers side, yet again several defensive players are featured on the injury report. Cornerback Kristian Fulton and Ja’Sir Taylor were both limited. Joey Bosa conitues to miss time at practice dealing with a lingering hip injury and Khalil Mack has missed both days of practice (Wed. and Thurs.)

The Chargers have struggled to get pressure on quarterbacks this year and Khalil Mack has been the only one to get home consistently. If he misses the game or is limited, it will put more stress on the banged up secondary. Levis is a far worse quarterback when under pressure with his completion percentage dropping to 55 percent when feeling the hear.
