2024 Los Angeles Chargers Schedule: Top QB Matchups to Watch

Due to the nature of the position, who is quarterbacking a team is relevant in each and every game the Los Angeles Chargers play. And this year the Chargers schedule is a gauntlet of good signal callers.

Let’s take a look at the best of the best.

Top QB’s on the Chargers Schedule

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Cheifs

This is as boring and annoying as it is true. Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in football and the Chargers face them twice a season.

So far in his career, Mahomes has played in 10 games against the Chargers. The Chiefs are a combined 7-3 in those games. He has averaged 281 yards passing, completing 64 percent of his passes. He has thrown 25 touchdowns and only six interceptions and has been sacked just 11 times. He has also picked up 20 first downs on the ground in those games.

Ending the Chiefs’ five-game winning streak has to be one of Jim Harbaugh‘s top priorities this season. That begins and ends with stopping Mahomes.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

The Chargers are 1-3 against the Lamar Jackson-led Baltimore Ravens. But oddly enough, Jackson hasn’t thrown the ball well at all in any of the games. His combined completion percentage is 54.4 against the Chargers. He has averaged just 185 yards passing and has thrown just five touchdowns and three interceptions.

But unfortunately, he may be more dangerous on the ground than through the air. He’s run the ball 41 times for 183 yards in the four games. He kept drives alive by picking up 12 first downs with his legs and in all those rushing attempts, he has only had to break two tackles. This means the defenses have not properly accounted for Jackson on the ground.

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Burrow is an elite NFL quarterback, but he hasn’t been in the two games he’s played against the Chargers. In his most recent game against the Bolts, Burrow did throw for 300 yards, but he was also sacked six times and picked off twice. All together the Chargers have intercepted three of his passes and sacked him nine times.

The Chargers are a much different team since the last time they played the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021, but here is to taming the tiger once again.

Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons

Kirk Cousins had a great game against the Chargers last season. The Minnesota Vikings ended up losing 28-24, but he threw for 367 yards, three touchdowns, and just one interception. Now on a brand new team, the Atlanta Falcons, surrounded by potentially the league’s best squad of offensive weapons, Kirk Cousin will face off against the Chargers for the fifth time in his 13th year in the league.

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

What Kyler Murray is against the Chargers is a bit of a mystery. Not only has he faced the team once in his career, he plays on one of the worst rosters in all of the NFL. But the Cardinals have done a good job rebuilding the team and most importantly to Murray’s success, they added Marvin Harrison Jr. We got a taste of what Murray can do with an elite receiver to throw to in 2020 when Deandre Hopkins joined the team and the duo played their only simultaneously healthy season together. And then in 2021, the Cardinals went 7 and 1 to start the season, before both were injured.
