The Los Angeles Clippers have already postponed a home game due to the multiple wildfires in Los Angeles County. They have already put off their game against the Charlotte Hornets, which was supposed to be played on Saturday, January 11th
When asked by the Sporting Tribune’s Arash Markazi when teams could expect to return to play in their home stadiums, a public safety official when they were not sure and added, “I wouldn’t advise holding any large events that would require public safety resources and cause unneeded traffic before at least Wednesday.”
When Will The Clippers Be Able To Return To The Intuit Dome?
That means the earliest game the Clippers could play in their new friendly confines of the Intuit Dome would be against the Brooklyn Nets, and would result in the postponement of the Miami game, which is scheduled for Monday, January 13th.
Of course, that statement was caveated by uncertainly from the official and with Wednesday being the best-case scenario.
While it is far from the most important question facing the city, it begs the question if the NBA would consider moving the game to another arena, as the NFL did in the case of the Los Angeles Rams Wild Card playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings that was moved to the Arizona Cardinals stadium in Glendale, Arizona rather than at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
In a normal world, the Clippers would be in the midst of a lengthy home stand that would have spanned over two weeks and included seven of eight games at Intuit. They will play the Trailblazers in Portland on Thursday, January 16th
With just 11 percent containment of the Palisades fire and 27 percent containment of the Eaton Fire near Pasadena, and Santa Ana winds picking up over the next few days the Clippers may not play their second game until they take on the Suns in Phoenix on the 27th.
