Coach Tyronn Lue has emphasized the importance of a full recovery, stating that Leonard must check all the boxes and avoid rushing back. The team’s priority is to ensure he is 100% healthy before returning to the court.

Rumors have circulated about a potential return before Christmas, but Lue has tempered expectations, indicating that Leonard’s availability will depend on his overall health and readiness. The Clippers are going to great lengths to conceal exactly where he is in his recovery. As Tomer Azarly reported “Leonard wanted to start his shooting drills after practice but couldn’t because the media were there (there’s no rule against that). We were told to stop filming and Leonard began his drills after we left.”

Clippers forward Amir Coffey, much like the rest of the team and their fans are eagerly anticipating his return.

“I know everybody is excited for him to be back.” Coffey said, “We see him getting on the court, going through drills, it’s a good sign.”

In the meantime, the team is relying on the contributions of other players, including Norman Powell and Kevin Porter Jr., who are expected to be available for the upcoming game against the Houston Rockets. The team’s schedule also includes a lengthy break, playing just three games over the next 14 days.

Despite Leonard’s absence, the Clippers have been competitive, sitting at 14-10 and in sixth place in the Western Conference. They have leaned on their depth and the strong performances of players like Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac to stay in the playoff race. As Leonard continues his rehabilitation, the team remains optimistic about his eventual return and the impact he will have on their playoff aspirations.
