The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the best MLB teams in 2024 largely on the shoulders of stars Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani. While both players receive strong praise from fans and analysts, their peers are just as high on the Dodgers’ duo.

Entering MLB games today, Ohtani and Betts are among the leaders in OPS and hits. Both players are firmly in the mix to win National League MVP, adding to a resume that already includes an AL MVP award. If either player does that, they would join Frank Robinson as the only player in MLB history to win MVP in both leagues.

As for what their peers think of Ohtani and Betts, a recent MLB players poll released by The Athletic showcases just how well-regarded the Dodgers’ stars are.

In the survey, 46 percent of players voted for Ohtani as the best player in baseball which was nearly double the percentage of Ronald Acuña Jr (26.5 percent) in second place. Betts was a distant third, with 8.8 percent of players voting him the best MLB player in 2024.

“There’s no comparison. Everybody has a comp, he’s got no comp.”

While Betts didn’t place first in the poll of best MLB players in 2024, he received kudos from his peers in another area. Asked to rank which player they’d most want to be teammates with based on vibes alone, Betts led the way with 12.6 percent of the vote and Ohtani finished second (6.3 percent).

Notably, other Dodgers players received votes in that poll. Enrique Hernandez received 2.1 percent of the vote and starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow received a vote.

No one on the Dodgers roster finished in the top-10 vote-getters for the most overrated player in MLB, though rookie starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto did receive one vote from an anonymous player. Needless to say, it’s pretty clear the Dodgers have two of the best players in MLB and Los Angeles also seems to boast a clubhouse that their peers wish they could be a part of.
