Dodgers Make Push For Power-Hitting Outfielder With Hernandez Talks Stalled

The Los Angeles Dodgers, anticipating Mookie Betts’ move to shortstop from left field, have been active in the outfield market this offseason. Their initial move was signing Michael Conforto to a one-year deal, adding a left-handed bat to the lineup.

But with negotiations with Teoscar Hernandez at a standstill they will need to keep all their options open.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Anthony Santander is among those options;

“Santander, who ranked third in the Majors with 44 home runs last season, is believed to be looking for a five-year deal, likely in the $100 million range. The Yankees, Red Sox, and Blue Jays – who all missed out on Soto when he signed with the Mets – are interested in Santander. Other teams to watch include the Dodgers, Tigers, and Nationals.”

Santander, who is a switch-hitter, had a breakout season with the Baltimore Orioles in 2024, slashing .235/.308/.506 with 25 doubles, two triples, a career-high 44 home runs, and 102 RBIs in 155 games.

Santander’s impressive 2024 season earned him his first All-Star selection, a Silver Slugger Award, and a 14th-place finish in AL MVP voting. However, his defensive limitations and the qualifying offer extended by the Orioles could complicate a potential deal with the Dodgers.
