The stage has been set for an epic World Series clash between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees and now the script has gotten even better.
Per Bob Nightengale, local Jack Flaherty will get the start in Game 1 of the World Series.

Flaherty was born in Burbank and went to Harvard-Westlake High School. Now, after getting traded to the Dodgers at the MLB Trade Deadline, he gets to start for his hometown team in the World Series, in front of the Dodger faithful, against the Yankees.

This will be the 11th time the Dodgers and Yankees have met in the World Series, with the Yankees leading the series 8-3.
However, the last time these historic teams met, the Dodgers won the series, dating all the way back to their memorable 1981 triumph.
Flaherty will have an opportunity to etch his name into history on Friday night at Chavez Ravine.
