This is a clip you won’t want to miss.

Find someone who looks at you like Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts looks at the Showtime Lakers. Seriously, this is an incredible reaction, like a fanboy who’s meeting his biggest idol.

“What a dream. Oh my goodness! Are you kidding me? This is my childhood, this is it. This is Showtime, baby!”

Dave Roberts when meeting Showtime Lakers

Roberts is a native of Naha, Okinawa, Japan, but the Japanese-American clearly also has a deep affection for the legendary Lakers team that won five NBA Championships from 1980-88. That’s fair because that type of dominance should be celebrated, no matter how old or young you are.

While Roberts was born in Japan, he ended up attending Vista High School in Vista, California. This means he had a chance to witness and celebrate those historic Lakers team as a kid, so it only makes sense that he’d maintain that same energy, all these years later.

Ultimately, it’s awesome to see Roberts react this way to some iconic Lakers players, but the best moment was seeing him sky for the high-five with Michael Cooper, who measured in at 6-foot-7 during his playing days. But that was no match for Roberts, who was listed at 5-foot-10 during his playing days. The Showtime Lakers may have given fans a show during their heyday, but Roberts just did the same, many years later.
