Latest Lakers’ Trade Target Now in High Demand

The trade market for De’Aaron Fox is heating up, with several teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, reportedly expressing interest in acquiring the All-Star guard.

Lakers Included In Teams Interested in De’Aaron Fox

During a recent appearance on the “Brian Windhorst and the Hoop Collective” podcast, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon identified the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat as potential trade destinations for De’Aaron Fox.

“If he does ask out, San Antonio and Houston—keep an eye on those two. I’ve heard Lakers, but it’s hard for me to tell how much of that is just people jumping to conclusions because he’s a Klutch client. And then I’ve heard Miami with the Bam [Adebayo] connection there.”

Earlier this year, Fox told Sam Amick and Anthony Slater of The Athletic that he would “love to be here for my entire career” about Sacramento, but Fox wants to “make sure that we’re in that position to be competing and competing at a high level for a long time, not just fighting for a playoff spot.” before signing an extension

The Lakers are in the playoff contenders class and seek to maintain their championship aspirations, but sitting in the 6th seed, 7.5 games out of first place in the Western Conference are far from the high-level competitors Fox may be desiring.

With LeBron James approaching his 40th birthday, faces a limited window of opportunity to compete for another title. Acquiring Fox would provide a significant boost, potentially forming a formidable “Big Three” alongside James and Anthony Davis, and maximizing their chances of achieving championship success.

The reporting coming directly out of the Laker’s front office is that they aren’t seeking to add a star-level player, but prioritizing depth

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, “An expectation persists that LA, while currently said to be prioritizing adding depth as opposed to pursuing star-level additions, remains likely to make at least one move.”
