The Los Angeles Lakers have made a second move in this year’s NBA Winter Transfer window following the arrival of two-way wing Dorian Finney Smith and point guard Shake Milton with the departure of point guard D’Angelo Russell and small forward Maxwell Lewis to the Brooklyn Nets.
Center Trey Jemison Joins On A Two-Way Deal
ESPN NBA Senior Insider Shams Charania has reported former Pelicans center Trey Jemison will be joining the Lakers lineup and adding depth to the lengthy list of backup centers.
Jemison has averaged 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 41 career games in the NBA.
Jemison will be signed onto a two-way deal, making him one of three two-way players on the team. Signed alongside him are center Christian Koloko and forward Armel Traore.
Standing at 7’0” and weighing 260 lbs, Jemison adds size and frontcourt depth to the Los Angeles Lakers roster. The 25-year-old has shown decent physicality and ability to power his way into the paint which may come in handy for minutes on the court without superstar Anthony Davis.
Point Guard Quincy Olivari Waived By Los Angeles Lakers
As a result of this move, the Los Angeles Lakers have waived two-way point guard Quincy Olivari.
The young prospect averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.4 rebounds in the NBA G-League as a South Bay Laker. Olivari has also played in two NBA regular season games as a Laker where he averaged 1.5 points and 0.5 assists.

Quincy Olivari impressed fans, players, and staff personnel alike in his electric performance in the NBA preseason. The 23-year-old was eventually offered a two-way contract for the Lakers following these games but has only logged a total of 10 minutes at the NBA level despite continued success in the G-League.
The Lakers also make these moves just hours before tipoff at Crypto Arena where the Lakers hope to break their three-game losing streak against the Miami Heat.
It is unclear when Trey Jemison’s first game as a Laker will be, let alone whether he will be present for today’s game.
