Los Angeles Rams: Sean McVay Shares Update On Tre’Davious White Injury Status

On of the big bets the Los Angeles Rams made this offseason was that Tre’Davious White could return to his Pro Bowl form after suffering two nearly back-to-back season-ending injuries. So far during organized team activities, White has not yet been able to participate in full-speed drills or practices.

Toward the end of the 2021 season, White suffered a grade-3 ACL tear that kept him off the football field for just over a calendar year. He played in the final five games in 2022 and the first four games of 2023 before tearing his Achilles tendon, also a grade-3.

On Tuesday after the OTA session, Sean McVay gave the media an update on his rehabilitation process;

 “He’s making good progress. He was able to partake in the walk through. It’s obviously a significant injury that he’s overcome,” McVay stated, “he’s got a lot of good stuff done on the side. You can see he’s really locked in and engaged in the meeting setting. As far as what his actual process will be in training camp, we’ll see where he’s at.”

“He does such a great job understands his body, so I don’t think we want to pigeon hole ourselves into one approach. It’s all, ‘how’s he feeling,’ ‘what does it look like’ relative to when [Dr.] Neil ElAttrache, [MD] checks up on him and what’s going to be the best thing for him, not only for hopefully being ready to go for the opener but for the totality of the season.”

The Rams are familiar with players dealing with Achilles injuries. Before the 2021 season, Cam Akers dealt with the same tear as White. He missed all but the last game of that season, returning after just five months of recovery. He never found his rookie season form after the injury and torn it again in 2023.

In his last full season, 2020, White was voted to the second-team All-Pro and elected to the Pro Bowl.
