New Deadpool And Wolverine Movie Uses Los Angeles Rams As Hilarious Punchline

The Los Angeles Rams don’t usually compete for attention with Marvel, but the most successful franchise in film history gave the Rams an unsolicited nod in theaters in the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie. The movie features two superheroes taking on supervillains. However, the twist is that Deadpool and Wolverine do not get along.

Throughout the movie, the two fight each other even more than the villains. Some of the fighting is physical and some is verbal. One argument between the two generated perhaps the most memorable line in recent Marvel history. Deadpool, sitting in a car with Wolverine, poked fun at his costume. Here’s what he said:

“Friends don’t let friends leave home looking like they fight crime for the Los Angeles Rams.”

You can also see the clip of the line here. (It appears that the video was muted by YouTube for copyright reasons, but the subtitles are still legible.)

Wolverine wore a yellow and blue throwback costume in the movie, matching the color scheme of the Rams.

Exploring How Wolverine Would Fit Into The Los Angeles Rams Depth Chart

Unlike many Marvel superheroes, the face of the X-Men would fit easily into a set of shoulder pads and a helmet. Considering his strength and his durability, he would fit best on the roster as a running back.

He also would work as a return man with his solid speed and his ability to run through tackles. This would never be openly talked about, but if he were to push out his claws ever so slightly, he would have the ability to “poke” defenders away. This would allow him to get many more yards after contact than the average running back.

Of course, it goes without saying, but Wolverine would be a starter on the Rams. Considering his durability and his strength, he could also be a solid linebacking pass rusher. His claws would be an advantage as well, poking offensive linemen repeatedly over the course of the game. Eventually, he would be able to wear them down to get to the quarterback.

Depending on his strength, he might be able to defeat any lineman with his raw power. If that’s true, he could work as a beastly nose tackle. He also could use his claws to catch defenders by hooking their jerseys. Put simply, his addition would be unfair for opponents of the Los Angeles Rams.

That said, he would need to get up to speed on how the game is played, which serves as the only con to adding him to the squad. Here’s a look at what some of his key statistics would be rated in Madden.

  • Speed: 89
  • Strength: 99
  • Durability: 99
  • Tackle: 99
  • Fumble: 99
  • Awareness: 70

Of course, this isn’t a comparison to other superheroes. This is merely a comparison to the best athletes in the country who remain mere mortals. Put simply, Wolverine would be a first-overall draft pick for any franchise and the top player in free agency.

However, if Deadpool’s joke were to be carried out to its logical conclusion, Wolverine is already dressed for the part.
