New Reporting Shuts Down Rams Biggest Trade Rumor

The rollercoaster of the Los Angeles Rams season has created multiple storylines — including one without Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford on the team. But one that has persisted, and for good reason, is the franchise’s need to find its heir apparent to the quarterback position. Regardless of how well current quarterback Matthew Stafford is playing, he is closer to the end than the beginning of his career.

One possible solution that has been bandied about for months is trading for the Carolina Panthers 2023 first-round draft pick, Bryce Young. Young’s sophomore season has also been a rollercoaster. New head coach Dave Canales benched him after three games, only to regain the job after Andy Dalton sprained his thumb. Young led the team to its second win in Week 9 against their NFC South division rivals, the New Orleans Saints.

The latest report on the matter from Diana Russini is that the Panthers will not be moving on from Young, despite taking calls from multiple teams. It is unclear if the Rams were one of those teams.

The 36-year-old quarterback has put together an impressive, ‘I still have gas in the tank’ stretch of games, since Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp back. While his mobility may leave much to be desired, the big-bodied, Stafford still has the strength to shake off defenders and his arm has shown no signs of decline.

All that said, the Rams will, at some point in the near future, be forced to reckon with who will fill Stafford’s shoes. As of now, we know it won’t be Bryce Young.
