Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp told reporters Monday that he’ll continue his career into the 2025 season and feels as though he’s “got a lot of good football left in me,” but recognizes that his future may not be in LA
“Who knows what’s going to happen?” he said. “That’s out of my control. And we will see what it’s going to be. … I don’t have any clarity on what that’s going to look like or anything like that. So yeah, obviously would love to be in L.A., but I don’t know what that’s going to look like.”
This uncertainty appears to have prompted current New England Patriots and former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne to attempt to recruit Kupp to Foxboro.
The two faced off in their respective team’s game against one another in Week 11. Kupp caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns in that game. Bourne witnessed Kupp’s brilliance as a receiver seven times when Bourne was a member of the 49ers.

The Rams are faced with a significant financial decision regarding the future of Kupp. Releasing Kupp could generate substantial cap savings for the team, and given the trade rumors that circulated around him during the 2024 season, his long-term future with the Rams remains uncertain.
The 31-year-old veteran wide receiver carries a substantial cap hit of $29.7 million in 2025 and $27.3 million in 2026. Releasing him would generate significant cap savings for the Los Angeles Rams, with a potential savings of $15 million in cash and $7.5 million against the cap.
Los Angeles Rams Draft Handicapped By New Comp Pick Prediction: Cooper Kupp Recruited To Leave Los Angeles Rams By Former Rival
While Kupp was once a dominant force and a key target for quarterback Matthew Stafford, his recent production has declined. He recorded just 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games this season. Furthermore, concerns about his health persist, as he has missed 18 games over the past three seasons.
The emergence of Puka Nacua, who recorded 79 receptions for 990 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games, has further solidified the Rams’ receiving corps, potentially diminishing Kupp’s role within the offense.
Considering his significant cap hit, declining production, and the emergence of other receiving options, the Rams may ultimately determine that releasing Kupp is the most prudent course of action.
