The Los Angeles Rams season has already felt the brunt of injuries to the secondary and will now be without undrafted rookie cornerback Josh Wallace. He is questionable to return.
Wallace was helped off the field after the kickoff return to start the second half. Shortly after, it was reported that he was being carted to the locker room.
Rams Rookie, Josh Wallace Injured Vs. Seahawks
Wallace started the year in a backup role but after a shake-up in the secondary ahead of the Green Bay Packers game in the NFL’s Week 5, his playing time increased significantly. Over the last three games, he has played at least 40 percent of defensive snaps in addition to his special teams duties.
The former Michigan Wolverine took on the duty of covering the slot in nickel packages. He had allowed just four catches on 10 passes targeting him, allowing just 35 yards. With Derion Kendrick out for the year and Tre’Davious White inactive, they will likely look to fellow undrafted rookie Charles Woods and veteran Ahkello Witherspoon.
Woods has played just six snaps on offense this season. Witherspoon plays mainly as an outside corner. This may force the Rams to move Quentin Lake to the slot and ‘un-bench’ rookie safety Kam Kinchens.
