Matthew Stafford’s mind is focused on 2024, as it should be. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback is hoping to lock up a playoff spot in one of the tightest divisional races in recent memory. However, while the focus is on 2024, the quarterback also has the ability to take care of some long-standing unfinished business.
The Rams quarterback faces the New York Jets and by extension, Aaron Rodgers. Long-time NFL fans can remember back to a time when Rodgers and Stafford would battle regularly. Many fans compared the two, often ranking Stafford below Rodgers.
However, since 2020, Stafford has won more Super Bowls than Rodgers and also reached the playoffs more times. Now, he can potentially send the quarterback out with a loss.

Before he played for the Los Angeles Rams, Stafford played for the Detroit Lions where he worked as second fiddle to Rodgers. As Rodgers would win the NFC North most seasons, Stafford would be left to chase.
In head-to-head matchups, Stafford has a 4-13 record against Rodgers. With the two quarterbacks playing in different conferences, this might very well be the last time the two face off.
Of course, while he can’t fix his head-to-head record, Stafford can leave a final lasting impression by beating Rodgers one final time.

Doing so might be a narrative boost for Stafford, but it also would get them one step closer to the playoffs. That said, Rodgers owns the opportunity to remind Stafford one last time of the years in the NFC North.
Back in 2020, Rodgers and Stafford’s teams played twice in a season for the final time. Stafford lost both games.
Now, four years later, he has the chance to return the favor, pushing the Jets up the draft order to potentially draft Rodgers’ replacement.
