Sean McVay Reveals Rams Trade Deadline Plans

Not that long ago, many were pounding the drum for a massive Los Angeles Rams sell-off, including star wide receiver Cooper Kupp and quarterback Matthew Stafford. After a three-game winning streak, that beat turned into clamoring for a dose of the old Rams — the team that made massive moves to add talent to their playoff-bound machine.

McVay: Rams Will Not Be Active Buyers or Sellers

When asked about what the team would actually due in the run-up to November 5th, the NFL’s trade deadline, head coach Sean McVay made it simple. The Rams would not be buyers, nor would they be sellers. According to the Los Angeles Times’ Gary Klein; “McVay indicated that Rams would not be active at [the] trade deadline other than continuing to try and find [a] destination for CB Tre’Davious White.

News broke last week that the Rams permitted White to seek a trade partner.

It makes sense that after winning three games, and getting back to an even 4 and 4 record the Rams would feel much more confident, but even a cursory glance at the depth chart reveals that they could use some reinforcements at some key spots, particularly at cornerback, linebacker, running back, and tight end.

Each of these units are one injury from a catastrophe. The secondary was thrown for a loop when they lost Josh Wallace in the Seattle Seahawks game. The linebackers have been a mess since trading Ernest Jones. The running game will be ground to a complete halt if Kyren Williams misses time and Colby Parkinson has proven not to be a good stand-in for tight end Tyler Higbee.

There is also an opportunity to move on from a few players and add more late-round draft picks.

But if McVay is to be believed, which is a 50/50 prospect when it comes to NFL coaches, this will be the team they roll with for the foreseeable future, which is admittedly a very short timeframe in the football world.
