Los Angeles Rams vs. New York Jets: All-Pro Defender Officially Ruled Out

The New York Jets have officially announced that their All-Pro defensive lineman, Quinnen Williams, won’t play against the Los Angeles Rams today dealing with a hamstring. Williams did not practice this week due to the injury. He was spotted warming up and running agility drills with trainers, but it was ultimately determined that he could not play.

Williams has the fourth most pressures among the NFL’s interior defensive linemen (50) and has the second most on the Jets, behind only edge rusher Will McDonald (52).

Based on the Jets’ depth, defensive linemen, Solomon Thomas and undrafted rookie Leonard Taylor III will see an increased rep share. From a pressure perspective, this will benefit the Rams’ passing game. Thomas has just 14 pressures and Taylor has just eight.

The Jets defense will also be missing cornerback Michael Carter II and DL Leki Fotu. Linebacker CJ Mosley will also miss the game, as he remains on IR. Both running back Braelon Allen and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker were listed as questionable but will be active for the game.

The Rams may be the healthiest team in the league, with just two starters on injured reserve and a clean slate from the injury report. Cobie Durant, who suffered a lung contusion will be back in the lineup, as will Demarcus Robinson. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury since the team’s win against the Buffalo Bills. Tyler Higbee will play in his first game since tearing his ACL and MCL in the Rams’ loss to the Detroit Lions in the NFC Wild Card playoff game 11 months ago.
