Los Angeles Rams Star’s Recovery Faces New Obstacle

The Los Angeles Rams season was almost entirely derailed by injuries to some of the team’s most important players, but now that most of those players have returned, their offense has found a new gear and have thoroughly inserted themselves into the playoff conversation.

The final remaining piece needed to return from injury to complete the offense is Tyler Higbee. Higbee has been out of the lineup since last season when in the Wild Card loss against the Detroit Lions, he tore his ACL and MCL.

After 11 months of recovery, the Rams elevated Higbee for return from the physically unable-to-perform list just last week. In the practices to prepare for the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football, Higbee was a full participant but was ultimately ruled unable to play in the game.

To start this week’s practices, Higbee was again a full participant but missed Thursday’s practice, but this time it wasn’t knee injury related, but because he came down with an illness. According to The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue, head coach Sean McVay will address the media on Friday and will presumably answer questions about Higbee and his expected availability for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

Higbee has been missed by the Rams offense in his absence, particularly on third downs and in the red zone, two areas the Rams have struggled this season.
