Following his hospitalization Monday night due to a chest injury sustained during the team’s victory over the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee traveled back to Southern California with the team, head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Tuesday.
McVay said Higbee was taken to a local hospital because he was “spitting up a little bit of blood.”
Tyler Higbee Avoids Serious Injury, Expected to Play in Los Angeles Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles
While a full medical evaluation is still pending, head coach Sean McVay expressed optimism regarding Tyler Higbee’s recovery. McVay indicated that Higbee is “expected to be ready to go” for the upcoming game against the Eagles on Sunday.
Higbee had five catches for 58 yards and was the game’s leading receiver at the time of his injury. And he finished the game as the team’s leading receiver. Tight ends featured heavily in this game. They were on the receiving end of nine of Matthew Stafford’s 19 completions and 11 of 27 targets while picking up 47 percent of the receiving yards.
Higbee just returned to action after spending the last 11 months recovering from surgery that repaired a torn ACL and MCL, an injury he suffered in last season’s Wild Card round loss to the Detroit Lions. His first game back on the active roster was on Dec 12th against the New York Jets. He played a limited role in each of the team’s final three games of the season, catching eight passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns in those games.
“It’s been great having him back,” McVay said Tuesday. “You felt his presence early. He was on pace to have a really big night, and he still made a huge contribution even just playing a quarter. I am hopeful and optimistic based on my dialogue with him that his expectations are he’s going to be ready to roll against Philly.”
