As fans waited for NFL news regarding whether or not Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp would play in Week 7, NFL trade rumors surfaced that Kupp generated interest around the league. The All-Pro wide receiver’s name had been circulating in NFL rumors for days and the chatter is picking up.
Kupp, who hasn’t played since he suffered an ankle injury in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals, missed Sunday’s game. NFL news surfaced on Sunday night, from Peter Schrager, that Los Angeles exercised caution with its star wideout and Kupp would play on Thursday Night Football in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings.

However, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network‘s original report late Saturday night that multiple teams were inquiring with the Rams front office about Kupp dominated headlines. A win temporarily quelled speculative trades and more NFL rumors regarding Kupp, but a loss in Week 8 to Minnesota would change that.
On Friday’s episode of the Yahoo Sports Inside Coverage podcast, senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson offered some insight into what a Kupp trade might cost and the possible maximum return for the Rams.
“Even with the advanced age, I will bet you that you could probably…it might take some contingenies, but you could probably get a third that graduates into a second-round pick for him with, not like a steep graduation. I think it would be a softer graduation scale than that to get it to a second-round pick.”

One of the trades mentioned during the discussion was the Davante Adams deal. In the trade between the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, New York agreed to send a conditional third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft order. The Raiders would receive a second-round pick if Adams is on the Jets active roster for the AFC Championship Game or if he earns first-team or second-team All-Pro honors this season.
Both of those markers are highly unlikely to be reached, meaning New York essentially gave up a third-round pick for Adams while taking on the entirety of his contract. In Kupp’s case, Los Angeles could strengthen its potential return by covering a portion of Kupp’s salary.

While there weren’t any specifics about what types of conditions could be worked into a Kupp trade, one example would be Kupp being on the active roster in the Divisional Round or a conditional pick upgrade dependent on whether or not he is on the new team’s roster by April 2025.
For now, there are only NFL rumors about Kupp drawing trade inquiries with no clear sign that the Rams want to move him at this time. However, if Los Angeles loses its next two games against the Vikings and Seattle Seahawks to drop to 2-6, Kupp may be moved at the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
