Los Angeles Rams Named Best Landing Spot For Hated Rival Linebacker

Now that it has been reported that QB Matthew Stafford intends to play in 2025, that is one position that the Los Angeles Rams can cross off of their free agency wish list. While there will need to be a new contract negotiation, all signs point to Stafford wearing Horns again at the start of next season.

One position that has been somewhat neglected for the better part of a decade is the Linebacker position. Les Snead and Sean McVay have certainly made conscious attempts to fill the position with talented players, but they rarely see it through and the question lingers if it is a position of value to the organization.

The Rams swung big a few years ago when they signed future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner during free agency. After just one season, they released him.

One of the reasons for that release was the emergence of Ernest Jones. Jones was a player they drafted, loved his upside, and was still on a rookie deal. When he became the lead man, he almost played himself out of a new contract with the Rams, as they traded him right before the 2024 season started.

Speaking of 2024, the Rams rolled most of the year with two UDFAs, Christian Rozeboom and Omar Speights (rookie). While both played admirably, and Speights flashed real starter potential for a rookie, there is no doubt that upgrading the position will help massively, especially in the run defense.

In comes PFF’s latest prediction. They just released their Best landing spots for PFF’s top 15 free agents: Defense and they named the Los Angeles Rams their best fit for an interesting name.

Dre Greenlaw to the Rams would certainly be an interesting move.

PFF says, “A move down the Pacific Coast Highway to join the Rams could be an ideal landing spot for Greenlaw. Chris Shula’s defense already features emerging stars like Jared Verse and Kobie Turner, and adding a veteran presence like Greenlaw could help solidify their unit.”

On paper, this move makes a lot of sense. He would instantly be the best backer on the team and brings a tenacity with him that somewhat fits what the Los Angeles Rams are trying to build.

While he is one of the most hated players among the fan base, that would all subside when he makes his first big play in Horns.

PFF has him ranked as the 18th-best Free Agent in the 2024 class.

Greenlaw was plagued with injuries in 2024, but 2023 saw an extremely successful year. He finished with 120 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. If he can bring that kind of production to the Los Angeles Rams, it would be a homerun signing.
