What a debut for USC Football and for Miller Moss in the Big Ten.

Moss, the USC Trojans quarterback, has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after leading the No. 23 Trojans to a thrilling 27-20 victory over No. 13 LSU. This historic matchup, held in front of a sold-out crowd at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday (Sept. 1), marked USC’s first clash with LSU in four decades.

Moss delivered an outstanding performance, completing 27 of 36 passes (.750) for a career-high 378 yards and a touchdown. His impressive showing not only secured the win but also made him the first Trojan quarterback to start the season with back-to-back victories over ranked opponents since records began in 1971.

This game also marked a significant milestone for USC, as it was their first win against an AP-ranked team after trailing in the fourth quarter since their unforgettable 52-49 victory over Penn State in the 2017 Rose Bowl.

Additionally, it was the Trojans’ first season-opening triumph over a ranked opponent since they toppled No. 6 Auburn in 2003.

With the victory, USC improved to 1-0 on the season and holds a 2-1 all-time record against LSU. This win also extended USC’s streak to eight consecutive season-opening victories, with head coach Lincoln Riley remaining undefeated in season-openers since joining the Trojans.

Moss displayed his versatility by spreading the ball to 10 different receivers, six of whom recorded at least 45 yards. In the final moments of the game, with the score tied at 20-20 and just 1:47 left on the clock, Moss displayed Brady-like composure leading the Trojans down the field and sealing the game after a Woody Marks touchdown with :08 seconds remaining.

Nationally, Moss ranks No. 9 in passing yards per game (378), No. 9 in completions per game (27), and No. 11 in total offense (370), leading the Big Ten in these categories.

Heading into the season, many sportsbooks had Moss’s Heisman Odds set at +5000. He has now skyrocketed to +2000.

Miller Moss will look to continue his Heisman campaign and USC Football’s winning ways next week at home in the LA Coliseum against Utah State at 8:00 PM PT.
