Dodgers Reveal Reason For Freddie Freeman Absence Against Atlanta Braves

The Los Angeles Dodgers currently have the best record in baseball, sitting undefeated at 5-0. While it has been a collective effort across the board, one of the biggest contributors has been Freddie Freeman, who has 2 home runs in just 3 games played.

The Dodgers play Freeman’s former team, the Atlanta Braves, tonight at Dodger Stadium, and the first baseman is surprisingly not in the lineup.

Freeman missed the Tokyo Series due to a rib injury, but before opening day against the Detroit Tigers, it was reported that the World Series hero had no lingering issues and was 100%.

In speaking with the media ahead of tonight’s tilt, manager Dave Roberts revealed that Freeman had a “mishap” entering the shower at home and tweaked the same surgically-repaired right ankle, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. He is listed as day-to-day and the hope that the tweak is minor and this is more precautionary.

The full lineup for tonight’s game is as follows:

  1. Shohei Ohtani – DH
  2. Mookie Betts – SS
  3. Teoscar Hernández – RF
  4. Michael Conforto – LF
  5. Will Smith – C
  6. Tommy Edman – 2B
  7. Max Muncy 3B
  8. Enrique Hernández – 1B
  9. Andy Pages – CF

Tyler Glasnow will make his season debut on the mound, and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM at Dodger Stadium. The Braves are currently 0-4 to start the season.
