The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to repeat as World Series champions in 2025. They finished 2024 98-64, which was the best record in Major League Baseball. Shohei Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million contract and immediately paid dividends.
Although Ohtani did not pitch last season due to recovering from an elbow injury, he made his mark offensively. He became the first player in MLB history with 50 home runs and 50 steals in a single season. Could he hit 60 home runs this season?
We give six bold predictions for the Los Angeles Dodgers 2025 season.
Shohei Ohtani Hits 60 Home Runs

This might be a foregone conclusion at the end of the season but no National League hitter has topped 60 home runs in a season since Barry Bonds hit 73 in 2001. Ohtani hit 52 home runs with the Dodgers last year, so it would not be surprising if he were to join the 60-home-run club.
Mookie Betts Wins Gold Glove At Shortstop

Mookie Betts is making a transition from the outfield to the infield this season. He was in right field for all of his career but now he will be a shortstop. It might take him time to adjust but he’s been fielding ground balls during spring training. With him being a multi-time gold glove winner, we would not be shocked if he flashed the leather on the infield and won another gold glove.

Freddie Freeman Hits 35 Home Runs For Los Angeles Dodgers

Freeman is one of the best hitters in baseball. However, in his three seasons with the Dodgers, he has not hit 30 home runs. This season, Freeman will crank up the bat and hit 35 home runs, which would be the most he had in a season since 2019 when he was with the Braves.
Dodgers Leads MLB In Most Home Runs

The Dodgers as a team finished third in most home runs across baseball. They had 233, which was four short of the leading team, the New York Yankees who had 237. Los Angeles has the firepower across the board to launch home runs in bunches, particularly with the trio of Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman. When those three get going, it creates a trickle effect throughout the rest of the team.

Ohtani Has A Postseason Start On The Mound

Ohtani is coming off having surgery on his elbow and the projected timeline for him to pitch is initially in May, but it is still to be determined. If he progresses in the right direction and pitches well in the regular season, do not be shocked if he is in the starting rotation come playoff time.
110+ Wins In The Regular Season

The Dodgers have enough talent to win more than 100 games this season. If they stay healthy, it’s hard to see anyone stopping them. We believe they will get the job done and win 110 games at least. It would be their first season winning 110 games since 2022 when they won 111. Watch out.
