The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently performing at a high level, aiming for consecutive World Series championships. However, the team is facing some early-season challenges with injuries within their pitching rotation. As a result, manager Dave Roberts is making adjustments, including a notable change for Wednesday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies.
According to sports reporter Kristen Watson, Bobby Miller, a highly regarded young pitcher in the Dodgers’ system, will make his first start of the season against the Rockies. The Dodgers are also closely monitoring the progress of star pitcher Blake Snell.
Los Angeles Dodgers Provide Updates Ahead Of Rockies Finale

Watson reports, “Dodgers’ Dave Roberts confirmed Bobby Miller will start tomorrow. He added that Teoscar is feeling better, going through a full workout today, and they are hopeful he’s back in the lineup tomorrow. Blake Snell played catch for the second day in a row and came out of it well.”
Bobby Miller’s journey has included overcoming a head injury sustained during spring training. The 26-year-old pitcher made his major league debut in 2023 but encountered setbacks during the 2024 season. In 2024, Miller posted an 8.52 ERA and a 1.768 WHIP, with 52 strikeouts and 30 walks across 56 innings pitched, and a 2-4 win-loss record.
The Dodgers are hopeful that Miller can rebound and become a key contributor to their starting rotation, further strengthening what is already considered one of the most talented rosters in baseball.
However, Miller faces competition for a consistent starting role, given the presence of other prominent pitchers in the Dodgers’ rotation, including Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, and Dustin May. This rotation does not include Snell, who is aiming for a May return, and Shohei Ohtani, who continues to practice as a pitcher in preparation for his return to the mound, potentially as soon as 2025.
Given the Dodgers’ depth, Miller is likely to serve as a starter periodically throughout the season. When the team’s pitching staff is at full strength, Los Angeles may utilize Miller in a relief role, providing support for the starters out of the bullpen.
Teoscar Hernández was absent from the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies due to illness, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic.
Hernández missed his second consecutive game as he recovers from a stomach bug. While he remains sidelined, it’s worth noting that he is well enough to be with the team at the clubhouse. In his absence, Michael Conforto, Chris Taylor, and Andy Pages will comprise the Dodgers’ outfield.
