Los Angeles Dodgers Now On The Hot Seat To Secure Valuable World Series Asset

Despite their active offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to address a critical matter: extending the contract of their long-time manager, Dave Roberts.

Roberts’ current contract expires at the conclusion of the 2025 season, and the club’s front office has publicly expressed their desire to retain him beyond that point.

In a recent appearance on the Baseball Tonight podcast with ESPN’s Buster Olney, Roberts confirmed that preliminary discussions regarding a contract extension have commenced. While acknowledging that his primary focus currently lies on preparing for the upcoming season, Roberts expressed optimism that a mutually beneficial agreement can be reached.

“Hopefully, everything takes care of itself,” Roberts said on the podcast. “But it’s about value. And I love this organization, but yeah, you want to feel your value. Absolutely.”

Roberts has proven to be an invaluable asset to the Dodgers since assuming the role of manager in 2016. Under his leadership, the team has achieved remarkable success, culminating in two World Series championships. Furthermore, the Dodgers have consistently demonstrated dominance in the regular season, boasting an impressive 851-705 record during Roberts’ tenure.

Roberts’ managerial acumen is evident in his exceptional career-winning percentage of .627, the highest among managers with at least 1000 games managed. This consistent success has garnered significant recognition, with Roberts finishing in the top 5 of National League Manager of the Year voting seven times, including a prestigious win in 2016 and second-place finishes in both 2017 and 2022.

Following the conclusion of the 2023 season, Craig Counsell entered free agency after electing not to sign a contract extension with the Milwaukee Brewers. This decision quickly garnered significant attention, with several teams expressing interest in his services.

Ultimately, Counsell accepted a lucrative five-year, $40 million contract with the Chicago Cubs, a record-setting deal for a National League manager. This move signifies a new chapter in Counsell’s managerial career and underscores his high standing among his peers in the baseball world.
