Los Angeles Dodgers‘ first baseman Freddie Freeman has been placed on the injured list due to an ankle injury sustained from a fall in the shower on Sunday morning, the team announced Thursday.

The incident occurred at Freeman’s home during the team’s off day. Following the fall, his wife drove him to the stadium for an extensive three-hour treatment session. After the treatment, he was able to drive himself home. X-rays taken at the time revealed no significant damage.
This injury comes after Freeman sprained his right ankle in late September of the previous season. Despite struggling in the early rounds of the postseason, he delivered a stellar performance in the World Series, hitting home runs in the first four games and recording 12 RBIs.
His contributions earned him the World Series MVP award as the Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in five games. Freeman underwent debridement surgery in December to address loose bodies in his ankle.
Los Angeles is currently boasting an 8-0 record, are scheduled to begin a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
