Los Angeles Dodgers Final Rotation Spot Now A 2 Man Competition

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has made a decision regarding the team’s fifth starting pitcher, he informed reporters on Monday. However, he emphasized his desire to communicate the decision directly to the players involved before making a public announcement. Consequently, the identity of the chosen starter remains undisclosed for the moment. Importantly, this individual will remain in Arizona to continue throwing, rather than joining the team’s travel roster for the upcoming trip to Tokyo.

The competition for the fifth starter position initially involved three right-handed pitchers: Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, and Bobby Miller. However, Miller’s participation in the competition was significantly impacted when he sustained a head injury from a comebacker during the team’s Cactus League debut. While Miller has recently resumed throwing bullpen sessions, his recovery has effectively removed him from contention for the immediate future.

Therefore, the decision now rests between Gonsolin and May. One of these pitchers will secure the fifth starter role, while the other will either begin the season in the bullpen or potentially undertake a minor-league rehabilitation assignment.
