The Los Angeles Dodgers got smacked by the Chicago Cubs 16-0 last night in their worst home shutout loss in team history, but the real story was far away from Los Angeles.
The Dodgers Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Comets, had a shut out of their own, beating the Round Rock Express 15-0.
The team hit 7 home runs, and outfielder James Outman hit two of his own. It is great to see Outman getting good contact, with Andy Pages struggling, we could see a rotation with Outman getting called up again.
But that is not the story.
Dodgers Prospect Hyeseong Kim Crushes 2 Home Runs

We all know that the Dodgers won the offseason, and one of their big acquisitions was Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim.
Unfortunately, he struggled with his bat during spring training, so instead of throwing him into the fire, management thought it would be best to start him off in the minors so he could catch up to the game’s pitching speed.
Kim has steadily improved during his stint in OKC and it all came to a head last night as he blasted 2 home runs in the Comets dominant victory.
Hyeseong Kim again!

In 13 games in AAA, Kim has 58 at-bats and is hitting .293. He has 3 home runs and 13 RBIs. He does, however, have 15 strikeouts, which was a big issue during spring training.

If he can get that under control, he could get called up sooner rather than later, and the Dodgers could certainly use it.
The hope was that Tommy Edman would be the full-time center fielder. But with Kim down in OKC, Edman has been playing in the infield, which puts Pages in center field, and he has struggled thus far, batting just .149.
These are small steps for Hyeseong Kim, but they are certainly good to see.
