LA is a city built on iconic moments, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have been at the forefront of plenty of them.
One of the most iconic was Kirk Gibson’s walk-off home run in the 1988 World Series. Not to be outdone, Freddie Freeman had an eearily similar walk-off home run during last season’s World Series.
Now, those two worlds have merged to create another iconic moment.
Ahead of the Dodgers Opening Day game against the Detroit Tigers, Gibby took the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and guess who was waiting at home plate to catch it: Freddie Freeman.
Gibby, meet Freddie!

It doesn’t get much better than that. Two players that forever live in Dodgers infamy, sharing a moment together as the team begins its journey to repeat as World Series Champions.
And who said baseball wasn’t poetic?
