Los Angeles Dodgers Make Big Mookie Betts Decision Ahead of Spring Training Finale

The Los Angeles Dodgers have released their lineup for their final spring training game, a crucial tune-up before the 2025 regular season, and as of now, Mookie Betts is included. This aligns with manager Dave Roberts’ earlier indications that Betts would feature in Tuesday’s Freeway Series finale against the Los Angeles Angels.

“Really encouraged,” manager Dave Roberts said before the Dodgers suffered a walk-off loss to the Angels. “Went through a full day at Dodger Stadium, he hit, took grounders, threw, kept food down, which is great. My expectation is that he plays [Tuesday] and takes a few at-bats.”

Betts is slated to bat second and play shortstop. However, it’s worth noting that he was initially included in Sunday’s lineup before a late scratch, highlighting the fluidity of his situation. On Sunday, Betts’ removal was attributed to ongoing difficulties with an undiagnosed gastrol intestinal issue, which forced the star to lose over 20 pounds and to miss the Dodgers’ two game season opener in the Tokyo Series held in Japan against the Chicago Cubs.

The matchup against the Los Angeles Angels represents the first time Betts has played since March 9.

Fortunately, Betts participated in a full workout on Monday and, significantly, was able to retain solid food for the first time in two weeks. This positive development suggests he is on the mend and ready to return to action. Consequently, he is (optimistically) back in the lineup for the final practice game of the year.
