Los Angeles Dodgers Insider Leaks Mookie Betts Diagnosis Causing Dramatic Weight Loss

Mookie Betts, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ star, recently navigated a challenging two-week period due to a persistent illness. While doctors were unable to provide a definitive diagnosis for his prolonged stomach issues, speculation has arisen suggesting a norovirus infection.

“Betts missed the Dodgers’ opening two games in Japan last week while battling a stomach virus, one that is believed to be a case of norovirus, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly,” reported Jack Harris of The Los Angeles Times.

Betts experienced a significant weight loss and struggled to keep down solid food during his illness. The Dodgers initially planned for him to play shortstop in Sunday’s Freeway Series opener, but he was ultimately scratched after experiencing vomiting.

Fortunately, Betts’ condition improved rapidly, allowing him to return to the Dodgers’ lineup for Tuesday’s spring training finale against the Los Angeles Angels. This return is particularly significant as Betts embarks on an unprecedented transition to shortstop, a position change coming after a career defined by six Gold Glove awards in right field. Though his pre-season has been less than ideal, his absence has underscored the impressive depth the Dodgers have cultivated.

With the Dodgers’ home opener against the Detroit Tigers just around the corner, it appears Betts will be ready to take the field, playing in front of an enthusiastic Los Angeles crowd.
