The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a hot start in the 2025 season. After losing their first game yesterday at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies, they still sit at 8-1 and are currently leading the Phillies 3-1 at the time of this writing.
Shohei Ohtani has looked like his normal self in the batter’s box, but fans are still eagerly waiting for his pitching debut.
Earlier today, the Dodgers provided a brief update of his pitching status via Jack Harris of the LA Times.
Shohei Ohtani Pitching Update For Los Angeles Dodgers

Ohtani was back on the mound this morning, ahead of an afternoon game with the Phillies, throwing a bullpen session.
Shohei Ohtani threw a 26-pitch bullpen today. Mark Prior said he mixed in a couple splitters, too, the first time he’s done that since resuming his throwing program after spring training

Per Harris, “Shohei Ohtani threw a 26-pitch bullpen today. Mark Prior said he mixed in a couple splitters, too, the first time he’s done that since resuming his throwing program after spring training.”
The loose timeline for his pitching debut, provided by manager Dave Roberts back in Spring Training, has been May. There has been no reporting that would indicate that the timeline has been pushed back, but he did take some time off from throwing, so it is good to see that he is back on the mound.
The Dodgers have a deep starting rotation, so there is really no rush in getting him in there. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them.
