Los Angeles is certainly the pLAce to be right now when it comes to its sports teams. The Los Angeles Dodgers have led the way after winning the World Series and now having a monumental offseason adding talent at just about every position.
One player that has been a potential trade target since the season ended in Nolan Arenado. The idea of Arenado landing in LA seemed to be heading in the right direction before those talks ultimately stalled and the Dodgers moved on.
Well, according to MLB Cardinals beat writer John Denton, those talks have sparked back up again.
Los Angeles Dodgers And St. Louis Cardinals Engage In Talks Regarding Nolan Arenado

One area that broke down in the initial talks was in regards to Nolan Arenado’s contract and how much the Cardinals would absorb in order to move him.
“A sticking point in any Arenado deal could come down to how much of the $64 million remaining on Arenado’s contract the Cardinals are willing to absorb,” Denton wrote. “Initial trade talks in early January broke down when the Cardinals refused to pay as much as $20 million toward the balance of Arenado’s contract, a source said.”
The Dodgers were clearly interested in adding Arenado to their already incredible lineup, but they did not want to have to foot the entire bill.

Denton continued, “After failing to make much trade progress elsewhere throughout January, the Cardinals reengaged the Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers about possible restructured deals for the star third baseman.”
So while the Dodgers and Cardinals have reengaged talks, they will have competition with other powers in the AL. You would have to think that the Cardinals would prefer to trade Arenado out of league, giving both the Red Sox and Yankees the upper hand.
Regardless, the Dodgers will always have a fighting chance, and we all know that Arenado’s first choice is Los Angeles.
Arenado was born in Newport Beach, CA and attended El Toro High School in Lake Forest. The 10x Gold Glove winner grew up a Los Angeles Dodgers fan and would love nothing more than to finish his career at Chavez Ravine.
