The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off of their worst home shutout loss in franchise history, losing 16-0 to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night.
The team’s depth has been tested early as a slew of injuries have forced the lineup to be shifted, along with expected starting second baseman Hyeseong Kim starting his career in Triple-A.
Tommy Edman was slated to be the team’s center fielder, but he has primarily moved to the infield with Kim being down in OKC. That has forced Andy Pages to start at center, and he has struggled mightily with his bat, hitting a poultry .149 average.
Edman has been one of the Dodgers’ best players, and his versatility is a gift and has allowed the team to look at potential replacements in the infield and outfield.
They have reportedly been in talks with the Chicago White Sox about center fielder Luis Robert Jr., but those talks have stalled, for now.
Los Angeles Dodgers Having Trade Talks With Chicago White Sox

According to USA Today MLB Insider Bob Nightengale:
“The Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers have tabled trade discussions that would send center fielder Luis Robert Jr. to the Dodgers for Triple-A outfielder James Outman and a front-line prospect.”
You have to admire that the Dodgers front office brass is always looking at options to improve at all times.
The 27-year-old Cuban outfielder has played his entire career with the White Sox and had his best season in 2023, where he had a .264 average, .315 OBP, and hit 38 home runs, with 80 RBIs.

He has struggled so far this season, batting .174 with just 1 home run. However, the talent is there, and he would certainly be a great addition to the lineup.
James Outman has begun to improve in Triple-A, hitting 2 home runs last night, so it begs the question of how much of an upgrade Robert Jr. would be.
For now, it appears that the discussions are tabled, but do not be surprised if the conversation picks back up again soon, especially if the Dodgers continue to play with inconsistency.
