Just five days ago, the bombshell report was dropped that the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox had serious negotiations regarding outfielder Luis Robert Jr.
The rumored deal in place was James Outman and another minor leaguer in exchange for Robert Jr. Those talks were eventually tabled, and both teams carried on with the season.
But could those discussions be revisited?
One MLB Insider thinks that they could in the near future.
Bob Nightengale Of USC Today Speculates On Los Angeles Dodgers Re-Opening Trade Talks

USA Today MLB Insider Bob Nightengale was on Dodgers Nation with Doug McKain earlier and asked if he thinks the Los Angeles Dodgers could re-engage with the Chicago White Sox regarding Luis Robert Jr.
“If Andy Pages doesn’t perform to expectations, and you just don’t find a long-term solution at center field, do you say, hey, maybe we’ll revisit these conversations with the White Sox and try to get a deal done for Luis Robert Jr.?” McKain asks.
MLB insider Bob Nightengale to @DMAC_LA on if the Dodgers could seriously consider trading for Luis Robert Jr:

"Certainly if they don't believe Pages is the answer."
"A lot of times, you see these trades with the same teams because the general managers get along so well." pic.twitter.com/L2nPxB4k6g
Nightengale responds, “Yeah, certainly, if they don’t believe Pages is the answer…Outman right now is in Triple-A, he’s just depth. You can always shift Luis Robert over to left field too, replace Conforto if you wanted to…A lot of times, you see these trades with the same teams because the general managers get along so well.”
Andy Pages is currently batting .175 with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs. Unless he improves drastically, the Los Angeles Dodgers will need to find a better solution.
The initial hope was that Tommy Edman would be the center fielder, but with offseason acquisition and potential second baseman Hyeseong Kim beginning his career in the Minors, Edman has had to play in the infield.
Ironically, Luis Robert Jr. is actually struggling even more than Pages. So far this season, he is batting .136 with 1 home run and 4 RBIs. He is not in the lineup for the White Sox on Friday Night. Unless he gets back to his form of past years, a trade would be a net loss for the Dodgers.
There is still plenty of time till the trade deadline, and the Los Angeles Dodgers will certainly explore all possible options.
