Bobby Miller’s Los Angeles Dodgers career was marked by a promising start, highlighted by a dominant debut where he struck out 11 batters over six scoreless innings. However, this early success proved fleeting. Plagued by injuries throughout 2024, Miller struggled to maintain consistency, ultimately finishing the season with an ERA of 8.52 and a WHIP of 1.77 going 2-4 over six starts.
This disappointing performance fell far short of expectations, but according to the Los Angeles Times reporting, newly minted Dodgers ace Blake Snell has had his eye on Miller from the opposing dugout. Jack Harris wrote intrigued Snell has been intrigued by “Miller’s high-octane stuff and tantalizing potential.”

As Dave Roberts told the Times, “I asked Blake myself, how does that [relationship] manifest,” Roberts added. “And he just said that, ‘I see Bobby in myself.’”
Roberts has already been impressed with the impact that Snell has had on Miller, “Huge is not even doing that justice,” Roberts said.

Miller’s path to a consistent role in the Dodgers’ rotation has become significantly more challenging. The recent additions of pitchers such as Snell and Roki Sasaki, coupled with the anticipated returns of Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, and (eventually) Shohei Ohtani, have significantly increased the depth of the pitching staff.
As a result, Miller has fallen down the organizational depth chart. When queried about Miller’s candidacy for the open fifth spot in the starting rotation, manager Dave Roberts offered a non-committal response, suggesting that Miller faces stiff competition for a place in the starting lineup.
Snell has all the confidence in the world that Miller will find his 2023 form and is focused on the upcoming 2025 campaign.
“He’ll learn,” Snell said. “He’s such an amazing talent. I don’t ask him what he did last year because I don’t care. I think what he’s gonna do is way more important than what happened. Learn from it. Get better.”
