Los Angeles Lakers Get Their Big Man After Botching Trade

The Los Angeles Lakers thought they were set at the center position after trading for Mark Williams. They ultimately rescinded the trade after Williams failed their physical.

While the Lakers rescinded the trade, the NBA Trade Deadline had then passed so they had to look at other options to fill their void at center.

At this point in the season, many players agree to buyouts with current teams and then hit waivers and then free agency. This is where the Lakers would need to look if they intended to add to their roster.

They have done just that and added a 7-footer that should improve their chances at a title run.

Los Angeles Lakers To Sign 7-Footer Alex Len

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, former Sacramento Kings big man Alex Len will sign with the LA Lakers.

Len had planned to sign with the Pacers but decided to change course and sign with the Lakers after they rescinded the Williams trade.

Len was traded to the Washington Wizards at the trade deadline in a 3-team deal but was waived by the Wizards, allowing for his free agency.

Statistically, Len does not bring much to the fold, but he also has averaged minimal minutes this season.

Len has only averaged 7.2 minutes per game this season, so it will be interesting to see if that number increases, or if it will be much of the same with the Lakers and he will just be used situationally in certain personnel groupings.

His best season came in 2018-19 with the Atlanta Hawks where he averaged 11.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 20.1 minutes per game.

The Lakers have waived Christian Wood to make room for the Len signing.
