Los Angeles Lakers Hope To End Curse With Superstitious Recall

The Los Angeles Lakers have made a series of significant moves in recent weeks, most notably the acquisition of Luka Dončić. However, despite the excitement generated by this blockbuster trade, the most impactful decision on the Lakers’ win potential may have been a less publicized change.

A curious trend has emerged in recent Los Angeles Lakers victories: since the beginning of February, the team has consistently won when not wearing their City Edition jerseys. Recent reports suggest this pattern may be more than coincidental. Here’s a closer look at the Lakers’ apparent decision to sideline their “Lake Show” uniforms.

The Lakers’ decision to retire their “Lake Show” uniforms, as confirmed by the NBA’s LockerVision website, seems at least partially attributable to the team’s struggles while wearing them. The Lakers sported the distinctive purple gradient uniforms, which covered both the jersey and shorts, in ten games and lost nine of them. This contrasts sharply with their record of 33 wins and 12 losses in all other uniform combinations this season.

It’s important to remember that correlation does not necessarily imply causation in the realm of statistical analysis. While the “Lake Show” uniforms may not have been aesthetically pleasing to everyone, they are likely not the sole factor contributing to the Lakers’ struggles. However, the team’s decision to abandon these uniforms was likely influenced by their poor performance while wearing them. The Lakers were initially scheduled to wear the “Lake Show” uniforms on six more occasions. However, it appears they will now opt for their yellow Icon Edition or standard purple Statement Edition uniforms instead. Further proof that there is no reason to mess with perfection.
