UCLA Bruins Land Coveted Transfer Portal Cornerback

The UCLA Bruins have added some really high-end talent in the transfer portal this offseason, highlighted by quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Now, they just added a former local 4-star corner in Rodrick Pleasant.

After UCLA made a push during his initial recruiting, Pleasant ultimately committed to Oregon, a member of their 2023 class. After limited playing time, he entered the transfer portal last week. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Pleasant was a former 4-star recruit out of Junipero Serra in Gardena, CA. He was the 9th-ranked CB in the entire 2023 class and the 98th-ranked overall player, according to On3 Industry Rankings.

During his freshman season in 2023, he appeared in seven games, garnering 4 tackles, 1 pass breakup, and 1 forced fumble. Last season, he utilized his red shirt after notching just one tackle in 4 appearances.

Pleasant also ran track at Oregon, running the 100 meters as part of the 4×100 relay team.

His speed can certainly be utilized on the backend of the UCLA Bruins defense. He will join a fairly deep secondary, but will have the opportunity to compete for a rotational role.

The UCLA Bruins now rank 22nd in the On3 Transfer Portal rankings.
