UCLA Bruins Lose Offensive Weapon To The Transfer Portal

UCLA Bruins fullback Leo Kemp has entered the NCAA transfer portal after just one season with the Bruins. The 5’11”, 220-pound sophomore joined UCLA in 2024 following a stint at San Diego State, where he played in 10 games and recorded two receptions for 13 yards and a touchdown.

Leo Kemp’s Time With the UCLA Bruins

During his time at UCLA, Kemp primarily contributed on special teams, appearing in 11 games and returning two kickoffs for 17 yards. It’s likely Kemp doesn’t fit with the new offensive scheme implemented by Tino Sunseri and wants an opportunity elsewhere.

There wasn’t much opportunity for him last year as well as the Bruins hit the lowest of lows in terms of running the football. Their top two RBs in terms of yards last season (Harden & Jones) also have left the program, so it’s hard to see a run-heavy approach in the future.

Despite his limited role, Kemp’s departure adds to the roster turnover under first-year head coach DeShaun Foster, as the Bruins continue to reshape their lineup following a 5–7 season.
