USC Trojans 5-Star Commit Placed In Coma After Car Accident

USC Trojans 5-Star commit Alijah Arenas was in a serious car accident on Thursday and was placed into a medically induced coma, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Per the report from Charania,

“According to a Los Angeles Fire Department public information officer, officials responded to a call at 4:55 a.m. after a Tesla Cybertruck crashed into a tree/fire hydrant with fire involved. The LAFD did not identify the person involved but said that the 18-year-old driver was out of the vehicle and that he was transported to the hospital in serious condition.”

Charania confirmed that Arenas was involved in the crash, but initial tests showed that he did not suffer any broken bones.

According to Tarek Fattal of Sports Illustrated, the vehicle that Arenas was in caught fire, and he inhaled a lot of smoke, which was the reason for the induced coma.

His mother recently posted this to her Instagram account.

Arenas is the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas. He is the 13th-ranked recruit in the 2025 class and committed to Eric Musselman and the USC Trojans back in January. He currently attends Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, California.

This is a breaking news story, and we will update this as we receive more information.
