Reclassified 4-Star CB Includes USC Football In Top 8

USC football was the first school to offer Havon Finney a scholarship in June of 2023. At the time he was a member of the 2027 recruiting class, but now that may now be even more beneficial that he has reclassified to 2026.

Finney’s decision to reclassify from the 2027 to the 2026 class is one he’s considered since his freshman year. He carefully evaluated his physical and athletic development, ensuring he met certain personal benchmarks, before making the final determination. After thoughtful consideration of his overall trajectory, he elected to accelerate his timeline.

“I have talked to my parents about it, my parents were always going to support it if I could handle it and we made the decision earlier this year,” Finney told On3.

Since the conclusion of his season at Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles, California, Havon Finney has been engaged in ongoing deliberations regarding his academic and athletic trajectory. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback, who recorded 37 tackles, 16 pass breakups, and four interceptions, has garnered significant attention from college programs. Following visits from over three dozen schools in January, Finney is now planning both unofficial and official visits in the coming months. He has communicated his decision to reclassify to numerous coaches, and several prominent programs are actively pursuing him.

“LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, UCLA, Texas, Oregon, and Texas A&M are schools I could take official visits too. I have discussed those with my family, I have good relationships with coaches at those schools and nothing is set, but those schools are definitely some I am thinking about.

“It has always been the same for me – those that focus on me, I will focus on me. These schools have done that.”

Finney’s recent campus visits in January included Oregon, UCLA, and USC, and he has previously visited LSU. For any other schools he chooses to visit, it would be his first experience on their respective campuses. Each of these visits will play a crucial role in shaping his decision-making process. Despite accelerating his recruitment timeline by a full year, Finney intends to make an early commitment.

“I am planning to commit before the season,” Finney said. “This decision speeds up the process, so I will continue to build relationships, take the visits, and make my decision.

“This is something I have prepared for mentally, so I feel ready. I have been playing football my whole life, so I am ready for the new adventure and my goal has always been to play major college football in front of major crowds.”
