The Spring Transfer Portal Window officially opens tomorrow (Wednesday), but head coach Lincoln Riley announced today after practice that the USC Trojans will be losing one of their young defensive players when it opens.
Redshirt Freshman Lorenzo Cowen was not at practice today and will be entering the transfer portal tomorrow.

USC Trojans EDGE Lorenzo Cowan To Enter Transfer Portal
While you never like to see players that you recruited leave for another program, similar to running back A’Marion Peterson, who announced he was transferring a few weeks ago, this does not come as a huge surprise.
Cowan, a member of the 2024 class, is part of a now very crowded defensive end room and has gotten buried on the depth chart.
The likely starters for the USC Trojans heading into the season will be a rotation of Anthony Lucas, Braylan Shelby, and Kam Fountain.

True freshman Jahkeem Stewart is already making waves and looks to be ready for a rotational spot, and former linebacker Elijah Newby has now slid down to EDGE and is getting rave reviews in spring camp.
Cowan, listed at 6’3, 247 pounds, is a very talented player and will have plenty of suitors in the portal. It would have been great if it could have worked out here, but sometimes it is a numbers game, and players feel it’s best to look for opportunity elsewhere while they have plenty of eligibility.
Cowan is originally from Georgia and had offers from plenty of SEC schools, so it is a fair possibility that he will transfer somewhere closer to home.
