USC Trojans Earn First Commitment From Spring Transfer Portal

The USC Trojans have gained their first commitment from the spring transfer portal in former Notre Dame safety Kennedy Urlacher.

Urlacher is the son of Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher. He will have 3 years of availability remaining.

Kennedy Urlacher Commits To USC Trojans

As soon as Urlacher hit the portal, the Trojans were the team to beat in earning his commitment. His connection and relationship with USC GM Chad Bowden is very strong, and growing up in Chandler, Arizona, a return to the West Coast was in play.

He entered the portal with a do not contact tag, revealing even more so that his mind was perhaps already made up.

While safety is not a huge need for the Trojans, you can never have too much depth in this sport, and Urlacher was a menace on special teams last year as a true freshman.

When he did get on the field as a defender, he finished with 12 tackles, a tackle for loss, and 1 pass breakup.

The 6’1, 180-pound 3-star is the prototypical size for a safety, but he has the ability to play down in the box and closer to the line of scrimmage. It will be interesting to see how D’Anton Lynn and Doug Belk use him this season.
